What’s so fun about Eco lifestyle

Main Post:

So I bought the eco lifestyle recently because it was still on sale after everything had gone off sale (now I know why) and it’s so far the most disappointing expansion pack. So I just want to know what should I do to get the most out of it? So far I’ve been playing university when I bought the expansion so all I’ve done is buy some new gadgets (boring) and vote. Should I just find a eco friendly job and move a sim to the eco world?

Do a Freegan playthrough! Give a sim the Freegan trait and try a rags to riches with them. They're a uniquely challenging type of sim.

The community lots are also very nice, dumpster diving, the juicing skill, fabrication, etc. The worst part of the pack, ironically, are the NAPs. But if you want the full playthrough experience, try voting in "sharing is caring" and stealing all your neighbors things. Just... Don't visit any community lots while that's active, lol.

What’s the problem with Eco Living?

Main Post:

Everyone knows by now that Eco Living is going to be our next expansion pack. What I don’t understand is why everyone is so mad about it. If you don’t want it don’t buy it, it’s that simple. Also Eco Living was a voted category in 2017. Link The most votes way laundry day so that’s what we got all they did was put together all the other options people had voted for.

Can someone elaborate the problem they have with this new pack?

It feels like we're getting things we already have in the Sims 4. Some of it looks cool but I probably won't buy it.

Eco Living is one of the BEST expansion packs. Here's why.

Main Post:

Personally I think this is probably one of THE BEST packs. Here are my reasons why:

  • It introduces a system that makes neighborhoods feel alive, something that the sims 4 (Not having open world) really lacked. Seriously, it makes the whole world feel like it's one big community.
  • The new neighborhood action plans are a lot of fun. There's community billboards around the world you can use to vote. The things you can enact are a lot of fun! There are a lot of kooky ones (things you can expect to see in the sims, like having sims wear paper bags) but there are also a lot genuinely cool plans you can enact that I can see being used for regular gameplay! You'll need to build up points and convince the community to be on board with you on voting day!
  • The Lots evolve or devolve over time. Dirty town lots will be cleaned and new parks will appear. be able to see the town lots change or grow over time feels really immersive, and there's something really satisfying about it ... it hasn't really been seen in the series at all.
  • It's especially rewarding when you take part in the new career, and see the change sort of mirror your work. It really feels like you make a change.
  • The Sims 4 suffers from being this picture perfect world, and that can get painfully boring. Being able to make a community wear bags over their heads as they cough the thick smog that fills the air is just what the sims 4 needed!
  • All the new hobbies and things to do including recycling, candle making, fabricating, bug farming, making your own fizz, growing lab meat, dumpster diving, selling and trading, and so on.
  • New apartments!!! (minus the landlord and noisy walls.)
  • New eco options and upgrades. Water collectors are so cool. Makes being able to be off the grid so much more satisfying.
  • Bicycles!!
  • New Traits. NEW TRAITS. That is all.
  • Gauges, Nose piercings, and Eyebrow piercings.

I also really like the story behind the town too, I think it can open up a lot of interesting storytelling opportunities. It's funny. To me the best representation of this pack is actually the candles. They're always changing. What do you guys think about this pack?

Top Comment:

Yeah the reveal trailer was an umitigated disaster but the pack itself can really stand on its own feet.

I'm not sure i'd call it actual depth but the width of new gameplay options that conveniently interconnect with each other and are applicable for different playstyles is something the game desperately needed. More of that please.

Bonus points for the new stuff not being locked into the specific neighbourhood of the pack, looking at you Island Living.

And, although i'm certainly not a modern builder, the new stuff really tempts me to have a go at it, build and buy items are overall quite good.

Not ready for a final verdict yet but atm it's up there with Seasons and City Living for me. Which is not a bad place to be in at all.

The only thing that grates.... please no more new gameplay incarcerated into humongous machines. I shouldn't have to build whole industrial parks just to do a little recycling and make some candles on the side. But oversized usable objects seems to remain a Sims 4 thing 'til the bitter end.

Is there a sub on how live a more "Green" (eco-friendly) life?

Main Post:

I'm looking for something that would have news about eco-friendly topics (energy consumption, food, clothes, eco-friendly brands), tips, political discussions, etc. Thanks.

Top Comment:

r/zerowaste is interesting. Might be a little extreme for what you're looking for though. And then there's the enormous r/environment, and their big list of related subs

Eco Living opinions

Main Post:

I've read a lot about people complaining here and on Twitter about the pack and TBH I agree with a lot of what was being said, but for me, especially after seeing the trailer just now, I'm looking forward to the game.

Should it be an EP? Debatable if you ask me. For me it would've made more sense if it were a game pack, but in the end we'll see how much was added for it to be an EP when it's released, which is why I don't want to make any hasty comments about it or downgrade it.

I know that we got some eco friendly living options in Island Living and Laundry Day but this one adds more to the aspect of living eco friendly. And to be honest I am very happy that EA is taking this route. It's a good way to show people what it's like to watch out for an eco friendly environment, especially now with climate change being a huge topic around the world. There are a lot of people that might change their view on this, people that actually didn't think much about how their actions affect the world around them.

Now you probably think I'm thinking to deep into this, and yeah maybe I do. I just think it's a neat idea to let people, especially children know about an important topic like this and let them be able to figure out how to better the world around them.

The only thing I'm really worried about is the replayability of this EP (and how much content is added). I'm scared that it's going to be like island living and stranger ville, where once you've changed everything for the better there isn't anything to do anymore...

TL;DR: Eco living might be a good opportunity to showcase eco friendly living to people who aren't familiar with this aspect of living and change the way people think about climate change.

Let's see how the game will turn out. I will probably watch some reviews first before buying it.

The idea is noble and cute. But for me it looks like they stretched out content for one expansion pack and put it in 2 expansions and one game pack. Its getting ridiculous. Tiny living was for sure took out from Eco Living, and im sure features like solar panels was planed for off grid trait in Island Living, and they just cut it out and saved for later. If they would combine Island Living, Tiny Living in one, good big expansion it would be awesome. But this is just sad in my opinion.

Is eco living worth it?

Main Post:

Hi. I’m thinking of getting the new ep but I’m not massively drawn to it. Do you guys think it’ll be reusable? Basically do you think it’s worth the money?

Top Comment:

It fits my gameplay style exceedingly well, but if your trying to save money and feel no pull to it, don’t buy it. Or wait till all packs go on sale.

About Eco Living

Main Post:

I don't know why "everyone" is hating this pack... I mean it's pretty cool, it has a lot of beautiful things and so on and I like the idea of the pollution and so on (I'd like to go for the worst and create a Chernobyl haha).

I know I an only going to get downvotes for this but idc if I get to say that I'm very excited about this expansion pack.

Top Comment:

I think the concept of the pack is really good and some of the new items are interesting, but I think what a lot of people are upset about is that the main gameplay features of this pack are ones that we’ve already seen versions of in other packs. Even though the idea of eco living is totally new and in theory could make a great pack, the way it’s been implemented isn’t the best. I’m holding out until I see more about specific gameplay to judge it too harshly, but from the trailer I’m not super impressed by it and I can see why people are disappointed. That being said I think that some people are reacting to this inappropriately and should not be so angry that they take their rage out on the poor sim gurus who have very little control over what EA wants them to make.

Eco living

Main Post:

Ok so im seeing it everywhere, instagram, reddit, facebook, youtube and twitter that eco living isnt worth it? Ok well, we only just saw the pack and i agree it looks a bit boring at first but isnt sims about basically being god? And changing the world? This pack in my opinion was needed to make the sims more realistic. Maybe some people should be grateful because of the amount of time spent on a pack for us when we’re all in lockdown

Top Comment:

I mean $40 is a lot. I think people would had been okay with it if it was just a pack. From the trailer I didn’t see anything game changing that’s worth the price they’re asking for.
